Deconstructing Triumph FX
Recently I’d been helping someone that had been burned by the scam merchants at FX United. It turned out that he had originally been introduced to another scheme 'GM Trader’ and their ‘preferred’ broker Triumph FX.
Triumph FX rang a few bells, but before i delved into my messy archives I thought I’d take a peek at their website www.tfxi.com
"The worlds leading Forex Broker" - a rather grandiose tagline. Smells pretty scammy already.
Chipmunks Anyone?
Well its the first time I’ve seen chipmunks promoting dodgy FX products to friends and family. I wonder which one is Alvin? and if he holds a current FSL?
Regulated in Vanuatu
Lets head straight to the bottom of the page and see wha trumpet they are blowing about being regulated.
"TriumphFX is the Forex and CFD trading platform registered with the Vanuatu Financial Services Commission as one of the regulated financial services provider (registration number: 17901)".
Wow. Well thats a world class regulatory destination! These guys must be the real deal. Lets have a squiz at their well earned credentials.
Zooming into the good stuff. We see that its all very official looking…They kindly provide you links to the Vanuatu Financial Service Providers Register and even a copy of their official ‘certificate’. Nice work.
Triumph Int. Limited (# 17901). Incorp. Date: 11 March 2016
Lets have closer look at their ‘official certificate’. As you can see from the screenshot below. There is some EXIF data associated with the image. This is thanks to "EXIF Viewer" a nifty chrome extension I’ve got installed.
Its hard not to notice the following; "Adobe Photoshop CC (Windows)".
Probably not what you’d normally associate with a bonefide certificate from a respected regulator. However it doesn’t mean its not a real ‘copy’. We need to do a little further investigating first.
Maxim memories of good times down in Vanuatu.
Vanuatu is parked in a lovely corner of the south pacific, and as we know they are open for business for just about anyone. Just ask the pint sized big boss of Royale Globe Holdings and Maxim Trader Mr. Lim Kok Cheang. He did a lovely paper shuffle and rinse cycle with Great Mission, Inc. Subscribing for 1B shares in ROGP for 0.01cens per share, whipped the money around and emptied the piggybank within a reporting period. Flicked the Billion shares off to his dodgy mates over at Legacy Trust in Honkers to hold in trust so he could wash out his Maxim Trader ponzi to 15,000 victims. The drongos at Legacy had a few problems with fat thumbs on the old abacus somehow ended up feeding the ducks a bit too much paper and ended up issuing 1.35Billion shares when they only had 1Billion to issue.
I digress - back to the Triumph….(see this post for more on Lim Kok’s Maxim scam).
Checking out
Go to the vanuatu website and search for Triumph in the companies section. You will see the company does not exist. Now go to the list of regulated entities. You will see Triumph on that list. BUT all it states is the renewal date.now have a look at the following link; You will see that the jpg has been doctored up in photoshop.finally have a look at the attached.I searched for some other Vanuatu registered companies and compared their certificates. Clearly they stuffed up the numbering.... "17901" is not even close to being in the right number for the date of issue.03 March 2016 - RBFXPRO - 1455011 March 2016 - Triumph FX - 1790111 April 2016 - Spartan Forex - 1459318 April 2016 - Knockout Ltd - 1459720 April 2016 - FXCL Markets - 14610I also downloaded the entire Vanuatu Financial Services Commission domain (you find interesting files that way).
